Beyond Wisdom: Handbook for Personal Transformation, Transsage
Published in Paperback by Writers Club Press (February, 2001)
Authors: Linda Armstrong and Jody Wright
Average review score:

Very excited about the mind!
Great Read!! I am very excited about the "Transsage technique" and since reading the book have had an opportunity to experience this powerful therapy during a massage session. WOW! Loved it.

I absolutely love the power of Transformation. That's why this book gets me so jazzed.

Linda eloquently explains and simplifies ideas I've struggled to explain for years. Things I already knew and have studied and wondered about, where presented in a straightforward and beautiful way. It was easy to read and I enjoyed every topic.

Thank you Linda.

The Blustery Day
Published in Paperback by American Education Publishing (31 July, 2001)
Authors: Teddy Slater and Linda Armstrong
Average review score:

A Perfect Read with a Little one on Your Lap
Pooh and Piglet end up in Owl's house on a very blustery day. Your child will love the bright colors and familiar Disney characters. After a few readings he or she might notice that the words in red make a sentence on the opposite page. These words are common sight words that will help your child read other books later. A letter to parents, exercises and flash cards are included. Have fun!

The Bodywise Woman
Published in Paperback by Human Kinetics (T) (September, 1996)
Authors: Judy Mahle Lutter, Lynn Jaffee, and H. Armstrong Roberts
Average review score:

YOU CAN'T JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER
This one delivers much MORE than the cover led me to expect. It begins with a really humorous historical look at women and physical activity.

The other thing I really like about this book is its strong message that physical activity really can be for everyone. Whether you're an elite athlete or someone who has difficulty making it around the block, this book encourages you to meet yourself where you are and start claiming the truly good feelings and health benefits that come from moving your body.

Bordering
Published in Paperback by Gynergy Books/Ragweed Pr (October, 1995)
Author: Luanne Armstrong

Armstrong definitely got it right.
I'm biased. I'm probably THE target audience for this book, or pretty close. But, wow. I loved the characters here... they're like people you'd run into in real life, with thier own little problems and quirks. Although there is an element of crime, it's not played up, and never really has a satisfying ending. Pretty much like real life. The main focus of the book is on the characters' relationships and interactions. When I read a book, sometimes I'll come across a passage or even a single sentence that'll make me stop and say, "Wow, I never thought of it that way, but that is so true!". I consider it a good thing if I see two or three of those in a book. This one had tons of them. Armstrong captures small-town and farm life perfectly, and her characters reminded me of people I know in West Virginia. (I know the book is set in Canada, but the similarities were downright eerie.) There are a few small flaws (Becky never seemed fully developed to me), but the book is well worth the price.

Boudica's War
Published in Paperback by Writer's Showcase Press (November, 2000)
Authors: Tristan M. Armstrong and Margaret Cotton

"Boudica's War"
I was fortunate enough to read this book as it was being written! The story kept to the known battles of Boudica and the fictional characters are very plausible. It is a gripping story written from several points of view and makes history exciting

Breath Tracks
Published in Paperback by Imago Pr (November, 1990)
Author: Jeanette Armstrong

Word Claims
Jeanette Armstrong's Breath Tracks is perhaps the best volume of poetry written in Canada in the last ten years and also the most underrated for its scope, breath and influence. Especially good is her section entitled "Landscapes of Grandmother Earth," where she composes her poems based on grid patterns, giving multiple readings and layers to the text. Her subtlty, lyrical intensity and honesty reflects the immense talent that this poet possesses. The fact that Armstrong wrote some of these poems in N'silxchn, her first spoken language, the language of the Okanagan people, illuminates another interesting layer to these poems: their relationship to land-claim issues and to cultural identity. In content, in form and in statement, these poems set an incredible precident for the literature of the First Nations in Canada, and also these poems are in themselves a major literary event. Whether you have any interest in the politics and culture of Native Americans or not, these poems are not to be missed!

Build a Doodle Farm
Published in Paperback by Learning Works (November, 1992)

Easy enough for Kindergarteners
I have used several of Beverly Armstrong's books in my Kindergarten class. The drawings are cute and easy to follow. I start out with directed drawings of how to follow the "left to right sequence." Later, the students draw in the writing center and then label the picture and write about their drawing (the writing ability will vary). They have really enjoyed this!
